Tracking your time

Tap Start job when you get stuck in, Stop when you're done. That's the whole habit — the app does the rest, and the time you track is what powers the invoice in Getting paid on site.

The timer

• One timer, one job at a time. If another job is already running, the app tells you — "Another job is running" — and asks you to stop that one first. No two clocks quietly running over lunch.
• It survives everything. The clock works from a saved start time, not a running stopwatch — switch screens, background the app, restart the phone, and it's still counting from the moment you pressed Start.
• Start / Stop / Discard — no pause. If you break off, either let it run or Stop and start a fresh session later. Discard throws the session away without saving.

The tracker overlay

Open it from the job's sticky bar while the clock runs.

• The big clock, and a live £ total — that's the real labour rate from the office, so it only appears once loaded. Never a guess.
• Rounding — Round to 1m / 15m / 30m, with 15 as the default. It's applied once, at Stop — the live clock always shows true elapsed time.
• Tracking for — where the time will land: the client (read-only), an optional draft invoice to attach it to, a line item (defaults to the job's first service line), and a free-text description if the work needs a word of context.
• Stop saves the session to the job.

Adding a past session by hand is on its way — for now, time is tracked live.

The TODAY rollup

The tracker's summary of your day: Tracked vs Billable time, how many sessions and how many are still unbilled, your unbilled total for the week, a 7-day strip, and a per-job list with billed/unbilled labels. A quick end-of-day glance tells you whether any time is still waiting to be invoiced.

The arrival prompt

When your phone comes within the site radius of your next job, a banner asks whether you've arrived and offers to start the timer — one tap and you're timing, and the job flips to In progress so the office map shows you on site.

Three things it will never do:

• It never starts the timer by itself. You always tap Start.
• It never nags for permission. It asks for location access once at most; if you say no, it just stays silent.
• It never blocks you. Manual Start on the job screen always works, prompt or no prompt.
